The new online store lets you order T-shirts, CDs, and Doughty's poetry book direct over the internet. Huzzah!
For the items you can't find there, check out...
Doughty's clever and well-written essay "Listner Appreciation," about common types of fans he's encountered (including "White Girl Bearing Bad Poetry" and many others) is in the book Shiny Adidas Tracksuits and The Death of Camp: The Best of Might Magazine. Might, I should ad, was also the best damn magazine to ever live a short glorious life in the early to mid 90s. The above link will allow you to purchase this essential volume at Amazon.com
For those of you who would like to know what songs and albums Soul Coughing are on, please see the Song List.
CDNow - I've had the most success with CDNow, so I suggest it first to look for some of the harder releases. They have the Japanese version of Irresistible Bliss, and some singles, and some T-Shirts... generally, they do a pretty good job, too. Click here to list everything Soul Coughing related that they have.
Other Web Resources - You can look for imports at CD Europe, and many people have had success with CD Banzai as well. A store called VS Music used to carry a lot of promo stuff. If anybody else knows of a good web resource for music, let me know and I'll be happy to list it. There's also stuff for auction on eBay quite a bit, but please don't patronize people selling illegal goods, and report them to the eBay police.
Where Else To Look - Most people ask me a lot where to get promo material or unreleased Soul Coughing goodies. The only thing I can tell them is "Good luck." Becuase it's very hard to find some of the rarer things Soul Coughing has put out. The only advice I have is to make friends with the shop keepers in all of the used CD stores in your area, and shop around often. Promo material usually finds its way in there, and if you're crafty you can snag it before anybody else does. Just don't ask me to get you any, I certainly can't help.
As anybody who has checked the discography lately has found out, the boys recorded an EP for John Flansburg's Hello Recording Club. This is a subscription-only service where you purchase an entire year's worth of discs featuring original works from new and established artists. Unfortunatly, the Hello Recording Club has called it quits after a four year run, so this might be the last time you can get your hands on this rare Soul Coughing recording.
If you'd like to order a copy, it is $43 for a 1996 subscription which includes Soul Coughing's EP as well as EPs by Mono Puff, The Gothic Archies, Will Rigby, Laura Cantrell, John Linnell, Hal Sirowitz and more.

You can also order previous years or a bundled Monster Pack. More information is available at www.tmbg.com. I don't know how much longer Hello will be around, though, so take your chances.
Also, beware, because Hello takes a long time to process its orders. In fact, I never got my final package for the 1996 subscription because I moved twice between september of 1996 and may of this year, when the finally sent the last package out. I trust my change-of-address cards didn't get proccessed. When you do get it, though, it's worth it.
